SEO Market Opportunity: Find Keywords Worth Investigating

Understand website evidence, topic research, and missing market data - then turn a relevant keyword into a page-level decision instead of chasing volume alone.

A keyword is the beginning, not the decisionChoose a market, investigate relevance and search intent, then map a worthwhile keyword to a useful page. Provider estimates are research inputs, not traffic forecasts.

A keyword list becomes useful only when it helps you make a page decision. SEO Market Opportunity brings third-party search evidence into your SEOPlan workspace so you can investigate demand, observed visibility, and competing domains in a chosen market.

The important distinction is between a research signal and a business conclusion. A keyword with estimated searches is not automatically relevant to your customers. A domain with no returned rows is not automatically invisible in Google.

Choose your website and search market first

In the dashboard, select the website you are working on. Then open SEO Market Opportunity and check the country and language. A report for one market should not be read as a complete picture of every country where a business operates.

Keep that context attached to any task you create. An agency can otherwise end up assigning a keyword found for one client or audience to a completely different website.

Website evidence and topic research answer different questions

Website evidence asks what the provider’s database has observed for the domain in that market. Depending on coverage, this can support a ranking sample and a view of competing domains. It is not the same as a live, exhaustive check of every Google result.

Topic research starts from a short phrase such as “SEO audit”. SEOPlan’s current suggestion workflow looks for keyword suggestions containing that seed phrase. Those suggestions are research ideas, not proof that your selected website ranks for them.

The underlying endpoint describes its input and response fields in the DataForSEO Keyword Suggestions documentation. The dashboard’s website selector remains the context for saving your work.

What does “No data” mean?

Read the coverage notice before drawing a conclusion. A provider may not return usable rows for a particular domain, phrase, or market. That does not establish that the business has no traffic, no demand, or no competitors.

Also distinguish missing coverage from a failed request. A configuration, credit, or provider error needs a connection check; generating more content will not fix it. Review the report’s status and date rather than assuming every empty panel describes the market.

Evaluate a keyword in four steps

  1. Business relevance: Would a visitor using this phrase plausibly benefit from your service, tool, or expertise?
  2. Search intent: Inspect current search results. Is the person looking for an explanation, a comparison, a tool, or a purchase?
  3. Page fit: Do you already have a page that satisfies that need? Avoid creating a second page just because the wording differs.
  4. Evidence limits: Treat volume and difficulty as estimates. Use the displayed priority as a review aid, not a forecast of visits or sales.

Turn research into a clear task

Add a relevant keyword to the Action Plan for review. In the Keyword-to-Page Planner, record the intended page and whether the work is an improvement or a new page. Describe the audience’s need before drafting a title or content brief.

For example, a broad phrase such as “SEO plan” might fit a planning guide, a service page, or a template. Those are different reader needs. The phrase alone does not tell you which page to build.

Use saved reports deliberately

Reopen saved market evidence from the expandable report history in the tool. Check its date, research mode, and market. The current interface reuses eligible recent reports, so pressing Generate again does not necessarily request fresh provider data or change the result.

Open SEO Market Opportunity and investigate one idea before adding several tasks. For help interpreting the controls, use the customer guide. Tool access and fresh-report allowances depend on your paid plan.
